What is a Nod?

A Nod indicates that a celebrity has been seen buying / wearing / using or visiting a certain product or place at any moment in time. However, it is in no way an official endorsement. A Nod may be a pair of shoes a star has worn to a premiere, a film they've loved, a hotel they've stayed in or a book they've been spotted reading. It could also be a sports team they support, an album they've recorded or a spa they've visited.

A Nod also denotes something a celebrity or product has been awarded with. Perhaps a BAFTA, a People's Choice Award or even the Orange Prize for Fiction.

Finally, a Nod is what you give the products and people featured on this site. Love something? Give it the Nod!

How do you find the Nods?

Firstly, we talk to the celebrities. Loads of the profiles on the site come direct from the stars themselves! We've spoken to everyone from Diane Kruger to Alberta Ferretti to find out what products and places they rate.

We also do a lot of research here at Nod HQ. We read newspapers, magazines, websites and blogs to see what the stars have been up to, what they've been buying and where they've been visiting. We raid photo archives and find out what people have been wearing (and where) and then hunt out places where you can buy them too.

Finally, we talk to the insiders. Agents, PRs and industry pals who keep their eyes on what's going on and let us know. And, of course, our reader, who send us their tips!

Can I submit my own celebrity Nods?

Of course! For now, you can email them to Nods@TheNod.com

We'll need to know where you found the Nod so we can check the facts, and we'd love it if you can share a picture with us, too. As a thank you, if you have a website, we can link to you on that celebrity's page.

Can I get updates on my favourite celebrities?

Yes, all you need to do is register and subscribe to the RSS feed on the page of your chosen celeb. You can also share this page with your friends via email, facebook, myspace, twitter or your blog. Also, if you sign up to the Nod, you can personalise the site to suit your tastes too. Just tell us who you love and we'll prioritise their Nods for you when you visit the site!

What's the difference between the UK and US sites?

The main difference is that the 'buy now' and 'book now' links on product pages will take you to shopping sites relevant to your country. But we will also tailor some content to the different countries (so you won't get UK celebrities you've never heard of on the US homepage).

I have spotted false information on the Nod. What do I do?

Just email us with your concerns and we'll take a look and update the site accordingly.

I have a fan site for one of the celebs you feature. Will you link to me?

Probably! Send us a link and we'll check out your site. If we think our readers will find it useful, we'll add it to the profile of the relevant celeb. We'd love it if you could link back to us in return.
